This festival is aimed at a wide range of wind sports, with organizations taking advantage of the public interest to promote their sport. With heavy support from the North Somerset Council, this event is predicted to grow year on year.
Insurance: You'll be pleased to know that with the help of the council we can be quite liberal upon the insurances that can be accepted. You will be advised by the organization under which you are competing just what you can use. Please ensure that you bring all relevant paperwork with you regarding your insurance cover. This will be checked by your event organizer on behalf of the council.
Times: The event is officially open to the public from 10am until 6pm, but your organizer will tell you when you need to be available.
Free Practice: Please note that the Wind Zone will be available on Saturday and Sunday as a marshalling and free practice area. This will also be available on Friday at competitors own risk as there will be no medical cover. Under no circumstances will you be able to sail outside of this area on Friday. The rangers will be policing this rule very strictly. Please also note that local club members may be using the zone on Friday and they may wish to check your reason for being in the zone - please be respectful of any such request.
Licensing: There will be a minimum of two licensors available on Friday evening at the Uphill windzone. Ensure that you have completed all paperwork in advance if you need to take your license.
Marshals: Due to the need to carefully timetable the event, ALL competitors are asked to pay particular attention to instruction from your event organizer, Stewards, Marshals & Rangers, and to act upon their requests promptly.
Camping: We have arranged camping and caravanning at Purn Holiday Park http://www.purnholidaypark.com; Purn Holiday Park has entertainment, a bar, and takeaway food, both hot, and food suitable for snacks - sandwiches etc.
